Small Reid or Hotch Moments

So after all the Reid and Hotch hate in criminalxminds  yesterday, I'm looking for some of your small favorite moments of Reid or Hotch love.  I don't mean the big ones (like Reid solving the code that is usually run by computers or the whole "L.D.S.K" scene),  but the small touches that make you go "awwww".   To start us off, here are a couple from me:

REID
1.  The scene where he rescues the little boy and takes him out of the house in "The Instincts".  It totally destroys the "Reid Effect" as the boy is totally comfortable with Reid, but canon aside, it always makes me smile.

2.  Reid's comment to the team about "Can one of you pretend you're going to see me again", right before he goes to the train in "Derailed".

3.  Reid's kindness to the unsub as he gives her the dolls back in "The Uncanny Valley".  He's so gentle with her.

HOTCH
1.  He reactions to the abused wife in "The Crossing".  I also love that he doesn't flinch when the DA goes off about men believing women are "victims".

2.  Hotch's reactions and talking to the prostitute at the end of "Pleasure is My Business".

3.  How gentle Hotch is with the FBI lead after the SUV explodes at the beginning of "Mayhem".

So, what about yours?

I have too many Reid moments to actually count, but every single time he gets into one of those intellectual rants about nothing in particular it makes me smile. Also, there was a moment, a few weeks ago, where Morgan and Spencer were both having to go through a ton of paperwork and Spencer was just like "It's relaxing~!" and Morgan was like "O_o Can't you be normal...just once??"

And any other time he's being silly, expample:


Also the entire Tobias situation, and the Fisher King, and all of that.....I'll stop now, like I said, too many to count. I'm a complete Spencer nerd, I love him.

OH! Also, Spencer/Garcia!Friendship makes me happy. For example:

Hotch, is a bit simpler. I love any and every time he smiles. The time he told Spencer he was using him made me giggle out loud. Also every time he's with Jack a part of my heart turns to goo.


And the entire 100 episode is a bit of a masochistic favorite of mine. ^__^; oh!!! And how he totally stared down Foyet like "-_- Do your worst bastard. I can take it."

So now I'll just slink off after I've pretty much proven that I'm a total nerd.

Elevator scene: Reid squeaking for Hotch. Umm episode.... :)
oh and Garcia's "You're my bitch now" to Reid who can't travel with the team because of his leg.

The episode Soul Mates (with the black guy and the white guy abducting and raping black girls and white girls), the scene where Reid is working at the board through the journal entries and he discovers that it is actually two men. Morgan asks him if he's sure, and Reid just gives him an exasperated look.

I forget which epi, but Garcia is talking on speaker phone to Hotch JJ and Reid, and when she signs off, she calls them "my fine furry friends" and Hotch says "remind me to have her drug tested.

There were more than a few instances in the first two seasons where Hotch grins a little, usually when he's talking to Garcia. I miss those grins.

When Hotch scrubs the blood off Elle's wall. That moment right there did it for me.

Reid is SO tender with his mom. I really hope we get to see Jane either this season or next. They've got to let her out of Glee for a day or so!

Me too! Jane Lynch and MGG work so well together - I'd love to see more of that relationship.

And - I should have said this earlier. Thank you for starting this discussion. The negativity (particularly all the anti-Reid sentiment) really got me down. This was a a lovely antidote.

I also adore the physics magic moment, the smile that Hotch gets when he turns away, and then the smile that Reid gets...^^

And there are so many Reid moments to choose from...I like his defiant little look he gives Morgan in L.D.S.K. when Morgan teases him about the gun test. He kind of shoves one shoulder up and looks adorable.

There's also the Reid moment when he's talking about how for arsonists, fire is an addiction, and all of the team members look at him and he glances down and looks shy and sad.

Oh! And the puppy dog eyes he gives Gideon in Someone's Watching when Gideon tells him they're leaving the art gallery, NOW.

Just a few:

Reid-hooker moments. All of them.

Reid and Morgan bickering over L.A. traffic (really, Reid was right and Morgan should have avoided the 405/101 interchange like the plague).

JJ to Hotch: "You're smiling." Hotch: "Gas."

Reid playing chess in "Uncanny Valley" (Really, all of Reid in "Uncanny Valley")

I second the elevator scene where Reid squeaks out, "Hotch." And the look on Hotch's face when Reid and Morgan essentially fall out of the elevator.

Reid, hanging up the phone after talking to Garcia: "Junior G-man?"

Hotch and Jack scenes (including Hotch watching Jack's birthday video... *sob*)

Hotch telling Reid that he should finishing seeing the end of that "movie".

Hotch crying. (Yeah, I'm a sucker for hurt!Hotch. Sorry.)

And Hotch smiling. Oh, and Hotch being stoic. (Really, just Hotch!)

I adored ALL of "Uncanny Valley" and had a hard time choosing between the chess scene and the one with the dolls. So, I'm glad you added that one :-)

Hotch as a dad is just wonderful, he always makes my heart wibble to see him with Jack.

Thank you for posting this, I needed some love. I pulled my Reid/Hotch stories bc of the hate discussion--I didnt want anyone to become ill bc of my obsession-LOL!!

All the aforementioned moments are fantastic, however, last night I DIED laughing at the scene between Reid and Rossi where Spencer had to go into the ditch. That is sooo those characters!! Reid is such a unique character to watch. He is obviously borderline Asperger's and for Matthew to portray the maturing emotions is phenomenal.

Also, the "gas" comment between JJ and Hotch is prolly my fave. The looks that Hotch gives Reid (i.e. the physics magic exchange) always warm my heart.

I'm sorry you pulled your stories!! I hope you post them here. I read part one of the AU ending and saw that part 2 was posted but hadn't read it yet.

To be honest, I get the feeling that the criminalxminds com is a bit anti-slash. I tend to just ignore it, because I don't like all pairings either, but I do think they treat Reid/Hotch a LOT different than Hotch/Prentiss. But maybe that's just me.

Anyway, I'm glad we have this comm :-)

PS -- I did feel for poor Reid last night, but the hurt/COMFORT junkie in me wanted an AU where he fell climbing up the hill, ended up in the hospital and Hotch lets Rossi have it for picking his Italian loafers over Reid. ;-)

Hi everyone, I´m rather new to CM-fandom, see I haven´t even found and CM-icons *pouts*

I really liked the last sceen with Reid in ML because he was so gentle with the mother even when he went on a rant with the phycological-development of a nine year old he just trying to make her feel better.

If everyone is willing to put in their two cents and tell me the episodes of some sceenes mentioned in the thread, it would make my heart go "ahhhhhh"

1. The time Hotch told Spencer he was using him.
2. Elevator scene: Reid squeaking for Hotch (why can´t I remember that one, hmmmm)
3. "No, we'll go to prison and you'll become someone's bitch." "...Really?"

Thank you for starting this discusion, I´m now gonna go to my bunker and read more H/R-fics that make my inside go gooie...

I am just a newly minted Criminal Minds fan. Finished Watching all 5 seasons in a week two weeks ago. (I see serial killer grab points everywhere I go these days ;) ).

Finally went on line last week to find the CM online communities and was surprised by that thread. That community was the first I saw before finding this one and to say I was confused by the negativity of that thread. Made me wonder why anyone was watching the show if they hated everyone.

Glad I found this community.

I have started re-watching at a more reasonable pace and I can't pinpoint anything I love more then another. They are both excellent characters played really well by the actors. I like everyone on the show though, these two just happen to be my favourites.

Glad find a place in the CM fandom where people are still having fun with the show.

Reid:

1. Episodes like "Sex, Birth, Death", "Elephant's Memory", "Conflicted", and "Uncanny Valley", where Reid cares about and won't give up on people (even unsubs) who truly needs someone in their corner.

2. Quiet moments of bravery, like when he was stuck in the anthrax lab in "Amplification", trying to talk unsubs out of killing people at the ends of "3rd Life" and "Minimal Loss", and his past and present interactions with Mr. Corbett in "Tabula Rasa".

3. In general he's smart and he doesn't hide it.

Hotch:

1. "Damaged", where Hotch praises Reid and then admits that he'd screwed up after Hardwick threatened to kill them. Any moment when Hotch lets his guard down is great, but this one was extra-great because he trusted Reid with the knowledge of his "failures" both professionally and personally.

2. The way he refused to let Prentiss or himself give up their BAU careers in the face of Strauss' manipulations in "In Name and Blood"

3. His wickedly dry sense of humor pokes through every now and again.

Reid and Hotch:

1. Physics magic - classic (and smiles from both characters)!

2. "Tribes" - Hotch in the Native American reservation school: "Reid! Is your name Samuel?"

3. "Fisher King, Part 2" - on the stairs after Randall Garner blew himself up, when Hotch held out his hand to Reid while trying to convince him to leave the burning house.

i love all these moments. Hotch and Reid in general are just great. Scenes i like :

In the performer - "the password was cullen" reid-"Whats cullen" that just made my day. that and

"I'm going to talk to her bff" Reid-"what's a bff?" I loved it. it makes me smile.
im currently trying to catch up on all the seasons. im not exactly a new fan but i finally found a comm that i like.

I giggled like a obsessed fangirl when Hotch placed the bottle thing down on Reid's desk and said "You're starting to get distance on those."

the smile Reid gave <333
