So, I've read a lot of Hotch/Reid fanfic, as I'm sure we all have., and there's something fairly common I've noticed. In almost all of the established relationship fic (at least before season 4) seem to have Halley cheating on Hotch. At first, I thought it had really happened since it was so damn common. So I did Googling thinking I had missed something. Now, was this all just a coincident or planned or something?

In the ep "In Name and Blood" (S3), the ep where Hotch plans to move to quit the BAU, there's a scene where he and Haley are talking. The phone rings, and when Hotch answers it, it's a hang up. Seconds later, Haley's cell phone, which is in her purse, rings and she does NOT answer it.

Most of us drew the conclusion that she was cheating on Hotch. Why else ignore your cell phone--and coming after the hang up call? Totally suspicious.

So, if you chose to interpret it that way, then yes, Haley's cheating is implied, but never confirmed by, canon.

Hun.....I'll have to rewatch it to see. Like I said in my intro post, I only started watching CM in Nov/Dec thanks to A&E. Thanks, and thanks to busterhenry down there too, for clearing that up for me, it explains it all to me. Now I don't feel confused anymore. YAY! *does dorky frozen in mid-air jump)

I don't have a link for you, but I believe the showrunners have said that they planned an adultery storyline that they didn't end up using, although the mysterious phone calls in "In Birth and Death" during that final Haley-Hotch fight could be interpreted as being from Haley's boyfriend. So it's suggested at in the canon even if it's not officially canon.
